A couple tied the knot again after the husband completely forgot that he was already married to the love of his life.
56-year-old Peter Marshal has early-onset Alzheimer’s and has most of his precious memories wiped out. But his loving wife, Lisa, has stayed by his side despite his worsening condition.
Lisa from Connecticut said that her husband always forgets that she’s his wife but he remembers that she’s his ‘favorite person.’
Forgetting that they were already married, Peter got down on one knee and proposed to Lisa, and she said yes again!
Speaking with NBC News New York, Lisa said she was watching TV with Peter when a wedding scene appeared. He then blurted out: “Let’s do it!”
Recalling the heartwarming moment, Lisa said: “I said, ‘Do what?’ And he pointed to the TV, to the scene of this wedding and I said, ‘Do you wanna get married?’ He said yes and had this huge grin on his face. He doesn’t know that I’m his wife. I’m just his favorite person.”
“I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I get to do it twice. It was so perfect. I couldn’t have dreamt for a better day,” Lisa continued.
“It was so magical. I can’t remember seeing him so happy for so long. He was so happy.”
Their daughter, a wedding planner, immediately contacted several vendors who offered their services for free.
Lisa and Peter tied the knot again in front of their family and friends.
Sadly, Peter can no longer remember the wonderful day but Lisa said that he leaned into her one day and whispered: “Thank you for staying.”
