A couple has gone viral after breaking the record by having ten sons in a row before finally giving birth to a baby girl that they’ve wanted for 15 years.
David and Alexis Brett were overjoyed when they welcomed their first son into their family some 15 years ago.
After giving birth to their firstborn, however, the couple continued to make more boys until having a total of ten males.
Fortunately for the couple, however, they finally welcomed a baby girl into their family.
“We’re over the moon. I’d been expecting to hear we were having another boy but when I found out it was a girl, my face was a picture. I was shocked but delighted. Now she’s here with us, it’s a fantastic feeling,” 39-year-old Alexis said in an interview with The Mail.
As her husband, 44-year-old David added, the girl has already left a huge mark on her brothers who are aged from two to 17.
“She’s already having a good influence on the boys. They have generally been much better behaved around her, trying to keep quiet in case they wake her up. They also want to help with holding and feeding her. It’s been great,” he said.
Now that they finally have a baby girl, Alexis admitted it’s time to stop expanding their family.
“We’re definitely stopping now. No more! I remember saying that last time, but this time I absolutely mean it. I love my family as it is now,” she expressed.
“Of course, we do get comments about the number of children we have. But it doesn’t bother me what people think. We’re well used to it. Some people think we must be on benefits, but we’re not. David has a good job which means we don’t even qualify for full child benefit.”
As the couple added, they spend on average around $400 per week to feed their large family. Despite the high costs of living, however, they wouldn’t trade their lives for anything in the world.
