A Couple Faked Public Engagements To Get Free Drinks

One cheeky couple managed to trick a whole bar full of patrons with a fake engagement ploy in order to get free drinks out of strangers.

And the shocking thing is, the ploy actually worked.

Corinne Miller, 29, was on a trip to Atlanta with her boyfriend, Adam Carroll, 28, for her birthday last July. While at a bar, Adam dropped down to one knee and popped the (fake) question.

At that time, they had only been together for a month and thought of the scheme on the spot.

Corinne and Adam, from Prattville, Alabama, managed to convince the bartender and one other patron to play along.

The scheme worked and several different strangers bought them free shots to celebrate their “engagement.” What’s even crazier is that they were able to pull it off again at another bar.

Hilarious pictures were taken showing Adam on one knee as Corinne pulled off the blushing bride-to-be act with an Oscar-worthy performance.

The video clip shows them laughing hysterically after the “proposal” with what patrons must have thought was joy but was actually just the hilarity that they were feeling at the prank. After Adam hugs Corinne and they both turn to the bar, patrons started buying them free shots.

But fast-forward six months later and Adam, who works in sales, actually popped the question for real in front of family and friends while they were celebrating his birthday party. Corinne, a photographer, happily said yes, for real this time, too!

Corinne said: “We both have the exact same humor- that’s one of the main components of our relationship.

“People started buying us shots and congratulating us- it was hilarious and definitely a great way to get free drinks.

“It has definitely been a whirlwind romance. We were best friends for eight years before we were a couple and that trip to Atlanta was actually one of the first trips we had been on together.

“I’m happy we did it – it definitely saved us some cash so Adam could get me a real engagement ring!”

And if any of those bar patrons are reading this, think of it as having bought a drink for them in advance!
