The Goth and alternative model was originally from Sweden but now lives in LA with her fiancé Dracul Grotesque, 36, who she met 3 years ago and who also styles himself as a modern-day Dracula.

Explaining the origins of her name, Victoria said: “Victoria is my given name, and Lovelace was the first female computer programmer.

“So for me, Lovelace stands for female power in the Victorian era.”

A passion for both history and fashion as a teenager segued into an interest in Gothic fashion that Victoria has given her own flavor by combining elements from Gothic Lolita, Victorian and Japanese street fashion.

She said: “I always wanted to look different from everybody else and my style is my self-expression.”

And it takes her nearly two hours each day to get just the right look. Part of this daily routine involves applying a temporary skin whitening cream “to look pale as a vampire.”

She added: “One day I can look like a Victorian doll and another day I can be inspired by the street style from Tokyo, mostly from Harajuku, and that’s where I usually find my inspiration for my style.”

In contrast, Dracul, a multi-instrumental musician, only needs half an hour to get ready.

He explained: “Usually Victoria takes around three hours to get ready.

“So I’m usually ready and just waiting for her while I make breakfast.

“It works out pretty good.

“I just learned to work with her knowing that we’re both different time-wise but we manage.”

He added: “I always try to go for more of a demonic look.

“She [Victoria] is very beautiful and I always try to go for an uglier look.

“Ugly like a distorted picture or like a non-perfect human.”

Dracul got into Gothic fashion through his love of horror movies and metal music.

He said: “I always liked Nosferatu, vampire movies, Dracula…

“I always liked the red contact lenses, just like the blood, the paleness of the skin, the black hair.

“I felt like I can be myself wearing black and that what makes me feel good.

“My darkness is my happy place.”

Dracul added: “I never really felt normal.

“I used to kind of mess around with makeup and created my own style that suits me.

“I know it’s extreme for some, but for me, it’s just another day.

“I’ve been doing it for over 20 years now.

“This is my comfort zone, anything else would be a lie.”

The pair first met in 2016 as Victoria was performing with a band in one of LA’s night clubs. Dracul went and asked for a picture, exchanged contact details, then started dating after Victoria moved to LA permanently.

They became engaged soon after.

Dracul’s friend, Anthony Ramírez, described the couple: “They’re really out of the norm and unique in their own way.

“They are very original and they make a great couple together.”

As for those criticizing their unusual lifestyle, Victoria said: “People stare but I think, here, in LA, is a little bit better than where I came from.

“I came from a small town in northern Sweden, people just stop and stare and they don’t say anything.

“What I like here, in LA, is that people actually come up to you and they say like: ‘Oh, you look nice. Oh, can I take a picture?’

“And I’m very happy to take a picture with people if they ask.”

But Dracul added: “Yeah, well, she’s a pretty Goth girl and I’m more like on the obscure side so I don’t really get such nice comments.”

The couple insists they don’t see themselves as real-life vampires and that their fashion choices are merely influenced by horror movies and vampires. Of course, one of those fashion choices involved Victoria getting permanent fangs a few years ago.

She said: “I always liked the vampire aesthetic when it comes to clothes and when it comes to home decor.”

Dracul added: “I mean who wouldn’t want to be a vampire and be able to fly at night or, you know, drink blood and all that?

“I think everything that comes with it or what Hollywood has made of it, it just makes it so attractive to us – like velvet walls and the Victorian furniture.

“Who wouldn’t want to live forever?

“I don’t consider myself a vampire but I am obsessed with everything that has to do with vampires.

“We all want to live in a fantasy world if it’s like a vampire, if it’s people want to live on the moon or something like that, I think it’s good to have that.

“It’s comforting.”

Victoria said: “I’ve always been obsessed with the vampire aesthetics and always dreamt of never getting old.

“I had also a dream of living in that magical world that you have a lot of Gothic castles, beautiful clothes, everybody would listen to nice music, people would be happy and would express themselves freely.”
