A couple with Down Syndrome has tied the knot in a sweet ceremony that took place months after the lovers were forced apart by the pandemic.
25-year-old Heidi Crowter and 26-year-old James Carter from the UK were forced to isolate at their homes and spend months apart due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Following three months apart, the couple was finally able to close the 180-mile distance between them and tie the knot in a beautiful socially distanced ceremony.
To abide by the new rules and regulations, Heidi and James were forced to cut the number of their wedding guests from over two hundred to just 30.
While the wedding didn’t go as planned, the couple managed to tie the knot on their original wedding date – and it was just perfect.
“It wasn’t the wedding we planned, but it was the greatest day of my life. When I walked into the church, I was so emotional and excited,” Heidi said in an interview with The Mirror.
“I nearly started crying because James looked so handsome in his suit. I had dreamed of that moment since I was born.”
Meanwhile, James apparently couldn’t get her eyes off his partner-of-two-years whom he now joined at her family home.
“I was so excited waiting for Heidi. Watching her walk down the aisle was the highlight of the day, she looked so amazing,” he expressed.
