A couple received the shock of their life as they woke up only to find a massive crocodile chilling in their swimming pool.
The bizarre incident took place in South Africa where a Moedwil-based couple saw a large crocodile swimming in the pool beside their house as they reviewed the security footage in the morning.
According to the reports, Angel and Jacob Breytenbach spotted the beast while checking security footage moments before their intended time to let their pets outside the house.
After seeing the unwanted guest, the couple immediately alerted animal specialists who struggled to pull the 10-foot crocodile out of the swimming pool after arriving at the home.
As the Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation confirmed, the crocodile was most likely displaced from its natural habitat following heavy rains caused by Cyclone Eloise. The organization also vowed to return the animal to its real home after a check-up.
“Various animals have been displaced and shown up in strange places due to the heavy rains brought in by Cyclone Eloise. It is believed that this crocodile came from a nearby river,” the Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation wrote in a statement.
“The crocodile was safely removed and placed in a safe location. He will be checked out by the Dept of Nature Conservation then released back into its natural habitat.”
Meanwhile, the shocked couple shared the footage of the crocodile’s removal from the swimming pool on Facebook with the caption: “Only in South Africa hey.”
“I must applaud everyone for their awesome handling of the situation,” Angel said in an interview with Storyful after her video went viral.
As she also revealed, the terrifying discovery took place on the morning of January 29 when she and her husband were about to feed their animals.
