A newlywed couple has gone viral after celebrating their wedding by joining a Black Lives Matter protest just moments after tying the knot.
Michael Gordon and Dr. Kerry-Anne took to the streets of Philadelphia to join the protesters after finalizing their marriage at the Logan Hotel.
As the newlyweds left the venue, they were greeted by countless protesters whom they joined on their march towards the City Hall.
Speaking of the “empowering moment” to ABC News, Kerry-Anne expressed:
“It ended up being a very powerful moment. Not only are we feeling the movement of the people… but I’m meeting my husband, on our wedding day, as a strong Black man and a good representative of who we are as people, what our men are like, what our culture is like.”
She added: “It was just a very, very empowering moment for us considering all of this is happening at one moment in one time.”
As Kerry-Anne’s husband added, the peaceful protest “showed what the movement can be and for us to be a part of that, it’s a positive thing.”
“That’s what the entire event out there was about. Of course, there was police and National Guard, but it was a peaceful protest. Everyone was so nice,” Gordon told ABC News.
The peaceful Philadelphia protest involving the two lovebirds took place two weeks after the death of George Floyd who passed out and died after fired officer Derek Chauvin was seen kneeling on his neck for several minutes during the arrest.
