A couple has spoken out and claimed they had caught wanted man Brian Laundrie on camera while he was camping with his parents.
As it has been revealed, Laundrie went camping with his parents earlier this month shortly after returning from a cross-country trip without his girlfriend and fiancée Gabby Petito.
Now, a Florida couple suggested that they were camping right next to the Laundrie family when they caught the 23-year-old on camera on September 6, just days before Petito was reported missing.
According to Marcie and Kenny Newson, the Laundries kept to themselves during their trip. While the Fort Myers couple didn’t see Brian in person, they were shocked when they reviewed their pictures and spotted the man in one of their selfies.
“They kept to themselves. They were there and then they weren’t,” Marcie said in an interview with NBC 2 before her husband added: “It’s very strange. If somebody I knew was missing, I wouldn’t be gone camping.”
The couple spoke out shortly after Duane Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter, joined the manhunt for Brian Laundrie and revealed that he had discovered the Fort De Soto Park campsite where the 23-year-old was staying with his parents shortly before his disappearance.
“They were registered, went through the gate. They’re on camera. They were here. We think at least if he’s not here right now, we are sure he was caught on camera as he went in the gate — that he was here for sure. Not over in the swamp,” Dog said as the hunt for Brian continued in the swamplands.
“Allegedly, what we’re hearing, is two people left on the 8th. Three people came in on the 6th, and two people left on the 8th. I think he’s been here for sure.”
Since Chapman’s claims have gone viral, however, the Laundrie family attorney shared a different story. While he confirmed that the family were camping together earlier in September, he insisted that they also left the park together.
