The couple who went viral for falling in love while socially distancing on their respective balconies during lockdown has announced their plans for tying the knot.
38-year-old Michele D’Alpaos and 40-year-old Paola Agnelli from Italy first met during a community balcony concert that was organized in response to the lockdown.
During the mini-concert, Paola was helping her violinist sister with the sound as she was rocking the instrument in the tune of Queen’s We Are The Champions.
After Michele and Paola’s initial, socially-distanced meeting, Michele tracked down the 40-year-old lawyer’s social media accounts and the two started talking on the phone.
“The first time I saw Michele it was love first sight and for him as well – our eyes just met each other. The atmosphere was so romantic,” Paola told FEMAIL as she recalled meeting the love of her life who was on a neighboring balcony.
“That night we wrote to each other until the early hours. We realized we shared the same values and that those would be a solid base for a relationship – we are both determined people but also kind and sensitive.”
Months after professing love for each other while social distancing and months after their first physical date that took place back in May, the two modern-day lovers have announced that they’re planning a wedding.
“We are absolutely getting married and all we have to do is set the date. We are considering a ceremony on the large roof terrace of my building, which would make sense since we met on our balconies,” Michele said in an interview with The Times.
