The great Dane, Tonka, is a certified therapy dog in Cedar Park, Texas, with The Dog Alliance.
Just like his large frame, he has a large teddy bear personality too.
This caring canine has been really helpful during the Covid-19 outbreak because it is helping those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before coronavirus spread, this large canine would visit the senior centers in Texas’ Cedar Park area for spreading joy to the elderly residents.
Now, as the senior centers in the country have temporarily prohibited outside visitors in a bit to prevent the spread of coronavirus amongst their residents, Tonka has become creative with the way he cheers up the elderly.
Courtney Leigh, the owner/handler of the dog and the dog are doing kind of a curbside pick-me-up for residents of the Cedar Pointe Health & Wellness Suites.
Recently, the large dog has been pawing up on the outside of the windows of this senior center and greeting its residents through the glass.
Courtney Leigh said that the duo learned that due to the recent events, therapy visits will be put on a break for safety purposes and containment.
Since the two of them really missed their visits, she thought about how she can help in this quarantine period. So, she decided to improvise and continue spreading happiness that her wonderful dog brings to everyone at the senior center.
She shared her idea with the authorities of the center who were kind enough to allow her to do so. Then, Tonka began visiting the elderly and made them smile with their window-side interactions.
Although the dog cannot go inside the premises, it plays with the elderly through the windows, who feel joyous when he visits them.
