A 17-year-old student has been left traumatized after cops stormed her dorm room with their guns drawn after her cruel schoolmates made a false report that she had threatened them with scissors.
Cheerleader Christin Evans was sleeping at 3 am when police barged into her room at Stephen F. Austin State University.
According to reports, ten females were involved in the ‘ dangerous prank,’ including Evans’ three roommates.
The female students reported Evans to a resident adviser on the Nacogdoches, Texas campus, who then contacted the police.
After checking surveillance videos, campus police learned that the report was not true.
The student’s lawyer said Evans’ fate could have been the same as Breonna Taylor.
Randall Kallinen said: “Their daughter was sleeping and awoken at 3 o’clock in the morning by local police with flashlights shining out and their guns drawn. This could have been a Breonna Taylor circumstance.”
Evans’ frustrated mother, LeShondra, said: “Kids sleep with their phones in their bed. What if they [saw] her phone flash, or the back of her phone is shiny… and they had reported she had a knife. They could’ve shot her.”
Evans had been moved out of the four-student dorm room but it was not clear what the college planned to do about the students involved.
“I want justice. I want them to have consequences. They played with her life,” LeShondra said.
The teen says the incident has affected her general wellbeing. “I was looking forward to making friends and having a good time on the cheer team,” she expressed. “Now I feel shaken. I can’t sleep at night. It has made me paranoid.”
Evans’ father, Chris Evans, also expressed his concern.
“Yes, we’re upset and we want something to be done about it,” he said. “When I sent my daughter off to school, my worse-case scenario was that she should call needing money or an issue with her grades.”
SFA Chief of Police John Fields said in a video message that the students involved will be held accountable.
“The students will be held accountable for this at every possible level,” Fields said.
SFA President Scott Gordon also said in a statement: “Each perpetrator will be dealt with appropriately. My heart goes out to the young lady who was an innocent victim in this matter. We will do all we can to support her and her family through this heinous ordeal.”
