Despite what you may believe, superheroes do not exist only in the movies.
In fact, there are so many real-life heroes out there, who’s dedicating their lives to save others.
Officers Kevin O’Connor and Bryan Poradzisz are became heroes, although they would prefer not to be called this way. They say that they were just doing their job. But, it would be difficult to not call them as heroes once you hear about what happened.
Recently, 911 got a call about a 19-month-old girl on the side of the highway.
Aureliania’s grandmother, Sonia Melendez, was the one calling – her granddaughter was suddenly chocking, but she had no idea why.
“She was sucking on her pacifier, but her eyes were rolling to the back of her head,” said Sonia.
They were just leaving from a mall and was about to get on the interstate when this happened. Sonia quickly stopped the car and called 911, but she was so shocked to see her granddaughter at this state that she couldn’t talk on the phone.
Thankfully, an anonymous stranger who pulled over to check if everything was alright helped Sonia.
He even stayed on the line until officers arrived on the scene.
What happened next was captured thanks to dash-cam, and the footage went viral.
As soon as they got out from the car, Officers Poradzisz and O’Connor performed the Heimlich maneuver, and proceeded to clear an air passage for this little girl.
Time was ticking, but these officers stayed calm – and the little girl was finally breathing.
“It was like the best noise you ever heard,” said Officer O’Connor, when recalling the incident.
It turned out that Aureliania had a febrile seizure caused by a viral infection, which caused her to choke and pass out. Thanks to these two officers, she is now recovering at home.
Her grandmother thanked them repeatedly – “they are our heroes,” said Sonia.
And the police department in Illinois also applauded these two quick-thinking officers, saying, “this incident highlights the dedication, talent, and focused calm under pressure… The Schaumburg Police Department commends Officer Poradzisz and Officer O’Connor for their outstanding work. ”
What an amazing save!
