Police Officer Makes A Difference For An Addicted Homeless Man

It was just another normal patrol until Deputy Matt Holman of the Greenville County Sheriff’s office shined his light down a street and saw a homeless man walking down it.

Holman soon learned that the man’s name was Robert Morris and life had been really rough for Morris, lately.

The two walked together to a nearby church. On the way Morris explained that his tent had washed away in a recent flood. Before that he lost his family and picked up a nasty drugs and alcohol addiction. As if that wasn’t bad enough, due to his crippling addiction he ruined the relationships with his brother and sister.

But the trunk didn’t have a Bible, so Morris did something even more selfless — he gave Morris his personal Bible that he kept on him at all times.point 131 | The Bible contained Holman’s scribbled notes and highlighted scriptures from his years of use.point 218 |

If that wasn’t incredible enough, Officer Holman then noticed that the homeless man was starving and offered him a few dollars. Morris politely refused, but Officer Holman wasn’t about to take no for an answer. “Go sit on the steps and I’ll be right back,” said Officer Holman. In the blink of an eye Holman had returned with a plate full of hot food, which Robert ate.
