35-year-old Raven Smith from Alabama has been sentenced to 615 years behind bars for abusing five young girls.
Houston County Circuit Judge Todd Derrick has jailed Smith to 615 years after hearing the emotional plea from one of the victims’ mother.
Smith admitted to multiple counts of abusing the young girls, all under the age of 16. He then apologized to the families of the girls in court.
The judge gave him the maximum jail sentence after hearing a mother’s emotional plea.
She told WTVY: “I can’t believe what I said meant that much to a judge to punish this man the way I wanted him to be (punished).”
District Attorney J.T. Jones described the crimes committed by the 35-year-old in court. He said: “When you deal with cases that involve children, particularly young children, it’s going to hit your heartstrings every time.”
The mother of the victim said she believes there are more girls who were scared to speak up. She hopes the victims will know that he is finally in jail and ‘can’t ever hurt them or anyone else.’
One internet user commented: “Many people who are inmates in the system were victims of POS like him. Most of the time it is what lead them down their path of self destruction…. Also, most men in the system are Fathers themselves. So, it is safe to say that he wont be winning any popularity contests. I hope he suffers slowly every minute of every day. Well done Judge, that is what i call a proper sentence. Too bad the DP wasnt an option.”
Another wrote: “But with good behavior, he hopes to be out in 245 years.”
