Several Congress members have demanded AOC apologizes after the Democrat accused Senator Ted Cruz of trying to murder her.
In her comment earlier this week, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at the Republican senator who appeared to agree with her when she suggested Robinhood should be investigated over their decision to block GameStop trades.
Responding to the senator, who confirmed that he agrees with the Representative on her comment, AOC took a jab at Cruz as she suggested she’s not willing to work with those who tried to get her killed.
“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,” AOC wrote in response to Cruz.
“Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.”
Following the comment of the Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, a series of Republicans hit back and demanded an apology.
In a letter to Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Chip Roy insisted they “will be forced to find alternative means to condemn this regrettable statement” if the Democrat refuses to apologize.
“It has come to my attention that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent out a tweet a few hours ago in which she accused Senator Ted Cruz, in essence, of attempted murder,” the letter reportedly read.
“As a member of this body who disagreed with ‘objections’ to the electors and who has expressed publicly my concerns about the events leading to January 6th, it is completely unacceptable behavior for a Member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member in the House or Senate for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution”.
The Texan representative went on to demand an immediate apology as he asked AOC to “retract her comments.”
