Celeste Barber, an Aussie comedian, managed to raise more than $29 Million for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
The 37-year-old shared a campaign on social media, writing: “I’m raising money for The Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps.”
Donations from all over the world have been pouring in and the funds will help the fire service.
Millions of acres burned, hundreds of homes destroyed and several lives lost in New South Wales. Volunteers and firefighters have been working hard and they have had help from firemen across the world.
“People are amazing. Power to the people. Someone needed to do something and the people have done something,” Barber told 7 News.
Barber is not the only TV personality trying to help tackle the apocalyptic blazes ravaging Australia.
Singer P!nk pledged $500,000 to help fight the blazes. She wrote on Twitter: “I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires.
“I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz.”
Nicole Kidman also donated $500,000 to the Australian Rural Fire Service.
Reports confirmed that two people died on the Kangaroo Island after blazes appeared to overrun their car.
Thousands of people have been evacuated while over 1,500 homes have been destroyed by bushfires.
One internet user commented: “Just saw that the US Fire Fighters have arrived and been deployed to help us fight. Thank-you so much, the extent of these fires is devastating. Thanking the families of the US Fire fighters who have graciously let them come help us fight, hope we can return them to you soon.”
Another wrote: “No bloody words. None at all. Just praying like hell for you guys. Much love (and a bit of cash) from me in the UK. Take care xx”
A third added: “Donate from germany. Thinking of this beautiful country, i have vitited long time ago. we pray for a soon end of this desaster.”
Someone else said: “I donated. My thoughts are with you here in Maryland, USA. I wish I could do more.”
