A community college professor starts to slam down on one of her students after calling the police “heroes,”
Braden Ellis and his communications professor at Cypress College gave a presentation online touching on the topic of “cancel culture” that has circulated in the United States. During his presentation, his professor started to break down her reasons for flipping out, interrupting his presentation while he defends the police.
The professor is not identified at the moment, and insisted that the police are bad. She suggests that the police were created in the South in order to track slaves who had run away, and their bane existence is a form of systemic racism that is rising in the United States.
Ellis states in his presentation, “I think cops are heroes,” in which the teacher stops him to give him her piece of mind. She asks, “all of them?” In which he responds with, “I’d say a good majority. You have bad people in every business.”
The professor refutes with “Yet, a lot of police officers have committed an atrocious crime and have gotten away with it and have never been convicted of any of it.” The argument continues, Ellis says that this is what he believes in and supports the police. He says that there will always be bad people and those people who “do bad things should be brought to justice… I agree with that.”
She asks what his main point is, should cops be seen as heroes who belong on TV shows with children? He still stands by his point, putting his foot down and saying that the police are there when needed because they help you. There are problems in the industry and have to be fixed in order for it to be better.

The class proceeds to end, and then Ellis says “It’s not popular for me to say that to you guys but that’s what I believe about the police. You might dislike it, but I should fight for your right to say it. That used to be a liberal position. We Republicans have the policies. We need to make sure that we are standing strong, need to be tough and fight back against the liberal agenda in college, but do it with gentleness and respect.”
Cypress College makes a statement and says that any efforts to stifle free speech is not tolerated. They are now reviewing the full exchange, planning to address it in the next few days.
