K. is predicted to experience a freezing jet stream across the country in January for weeks. The prediction was the first long-range UK weather projection ever attempted.
Amongst the areas expected to be badly-hit by the arctic jet is The Midlands. The weather here might be bringing icy and chilly memories of the Beast from the East back, which covered the U.K. in a sheet of snow in 2018.
According to a team led by Mark Saunders at University College London said that this would make the 2020 January-February central Britain temperature as the chilliest winter since 2013.
Forecasters studied the east to west blowing jet stream just above the north Atlantic and deliver snow and icy temperatures when it lands. Last year, the Beast from the East that hit last year in February, saw winds up to 70 mph and mercury hitting -14C in parts of Scotland.
Gloucestershire saw 22-inch snow. The severe weather resulted in deaths of seventeen people along with a seven-year-old girl.
The predication contrasts the U.K.’s hot summer completely. The country experienced the hottest July with high temperatures. Forecasters have also warned against one of the century’s hottest autumns.
As per a forecaster, Brian Gaze, the following three months could be amongst the warmest on record.
The mercury could rise to hit 26C as Saharan air will be following the fallout from Hurricane Dorian. The deadly Dorian could merge with Tropical Storm Gabrielle to cripple England in the next few days with 2ins rain and 70mph wind.
With the mercury oscillating between 18 and 19C in the South and approximately 14C up towards Scotland, today will experience average temperatures for this time of the year.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will see more rain and cloud by the end of this week, while West England will be drenched in the week’s start.
