It’s a time to reconnect with family and friends and (more importantly, for some people) it’s a license to binge-eat to the heart’s content.

But Christmas is especially magical for kids who are eagerly anticipating all the gifts and goodies that they’re about to receive. And nothing gets a kid more excited than knowing that Santa Claus is going to give them what they’re asking for. At least, before someone spoils the fun and tells them that Santa doesn’t exist.

Nevertheless, a kid meeting Santa is one of the iconic moments of the holidays and you would be doing your kids a disservice if you don’t let them experience an event like that at least once in their lives (again, before the myth of Santa is ruined for them forever).

But it’s not just kids who enjoy encounters with Santa because Max the Moluccan Cockatoo went to meet a new friend. At first puzzled by the red hat, bear, and white hair, Max finally decides that Santa is a person he wants to hang out with!

It’s really hard not to break out in laughter when watching this adorable 25-year-old male Moluccan Cockatoo with his hilarious antics. Max sees all humans as ridiculous and any time is a good time for snacks (like a Hobbit!). And who can deny that he thinks the world revolves around him?

Along with Max, fellow flock members Tycho (a 23-year-old African Grey) and Tikal (a 44-year-old Amazon), also add to loads of fun whenever they get their groove going. And of course, there’s their featherless biped owner who makes sure the gang is well taken cared of.

Seeing Max so happy, it’s hard to imagine that there was a time that he wasn’t so social. He was rescued when he was 10 years old from a home where he was confined to a basement. He also had a few behavioral challenges such as non-stop screaming and biting others so much that he couldn’t be handled safely.

But he has definitely surmounted all of those challenges and the Max of today is very friendly and social.

Moluccan Cockatoos like Max can expect to live between 60 to 80 years. Their brilliant Salmon-colored crest and peach color make them easily recognizable. Just like all parrots, they need proper care, nutrition, and a lot of attention so that they don’t get bored.
