Church Helped Pay Off $2 Million Medical Debt Of Over 900 Families


An Annapolis church has been leading by example by helping 900 Maryland families pay off medical debts of a collective sum of nearly $2 million.

Revolution Annapolis is a nondenominational church that has approximately 170 members. The Good Samaritans have decided to start a fundraiser to help pay off medical debts of total strangers with no strings attached.

In less than a year, the church raised $15,000 and donated the money to RIP Medical Debt, a non-profit organization that deals in purchasing medical debts at reduced prices and paying them off on behalf of the needy.

Incredibly, RIP Medical Debt manage to make the most out of the church’s $15,000 donation as they purchased and paid off $1,893,288 of debt belonging to over 900 families from 14 Maryland counties.

“Forgiving medical debt is not part of a strategy to get people to attend or give to local churches,” Lead pastor Kenny Camacho said, adding that he hopes this effort will provide people in despair with hope.

“We know that there are strings attached to almost everything we do these days: everything you buy, everything you search for online, becomes part of the next advertisement you see.

“Revolution wants to resist the idea that the church is just another business: the church should exist so that people can have hope, period.”

According to Revolution Annapolis, the church’s goal is to direct people towards Jesus Christ, our greatest forgiver and ultimate hope.

“We think this is a practical and tangible way that we can help people — regardless of whether they are part of a church or not — experience forgiveness that impacts their lives in a meaningful way,” the pastor added in an interview with The Christian Post.
