An Airport Put Up A Christmas Tree Made Of Prohibited Items To Highlight The Importance Of Aviation Security

An unusual Christmas tree which is decorated with knives, bullet cases, and toy guns is a center of attraction at the Vilnius Airport.

The Aviation security officers at Vilnius Airport came with a unique idea for the Christmas tree. Their motive is to spread an educational message on the importance of aviation security. Items that are not allowed to carry in hand luggage and passengers have to submit them during screening, were used in preparing the Christmas tree. The aviation security unit of Lithuania’s main airport created a unique educational masterpiece.

Knives, scissors, lighters, blades, and all sorts of other sharp and dangerous objects have displayed in this Christmas tree. “The tree is made of knives, cartridge cases, scissors, fake guns, and other prohibited objects,” says Vidas Kšanas, the head of the airport’s Safety and Security Department.

 “Most often passengers carry gas dispensers, which are not allowed either in carry-on or checked-in luggage. There are often sharp objects, long knives, and even imitation guns, none of which are allowed to be transported through airports,” Kšanas tells a website.

More than a decoration, the tree is a reminder for passengers that what they are not allowed to carry into a plane, and they get into unnecessary trouble if they put these things in their luggage.
