Throughout the years of her imprisonment, Bibi often received death threats from angry protesters who wanted to see her die for ‘insulting’ their religion.

In addition to being threatened and held captive, the mother was denied access to medical attention when her health began failing her.

Fortunately, the devout Christian was finally released and managed to flee the country and enter Canada where she’d been “safely reunited with her family” according to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“It is a great relief that this shameful ordeal has finally come to an end and Asia Bibi and her family are safe. She should never have been imprisoned in the first place, let alone faced the death penalty,” Omar Waraich of Amnesty International expressed.

“That she then had to endure the repeated threats to her life, even after being acquitted, only compounds the injustice.”

The mother was charged with blasphemy back in 2010 when she allegedly offended the Prophet Mohammed. Due to Pakistan’s controversial laws, she was jailed and put on death row where she had spent nine years in fear.

After Bibi was finally released on appeal, the mother had to face new threats. Her ‘release’ was blocked by the Pakistan army as well as extremists who demanded her execution.

“After being released from death row, she thought she was finally free. But she found she was being hunted by extremists. For the last few months she has been living in fear for her life,” one source claimed.

“Canada’s prime minister has been incredibly helpful. Asia’s two daughters flew out there to start new lives in safety. But Asia and her husband could not go with them.

“The Pakistan army’s objection was that if they let her go, and she went public rubbishing Pakistan, it would be bad for all of them.”

Thankfully, Bibi made it out of Pakistan safely and has already been reunited with her family.
