Chinese Authorities Announced to Reward People for Taking the Life of Stray Dogs


A Chinese community has asked people to catch and slaughter stray dogs amid coronavirus.

For the same, the authorities of the community are also offering a reward of 200 yuan.

The announcement was published in Guangdong last Monday.

The document announcing the statement was titled “A kind Reminder.”

During the coronavirus outbreak, people were asked to kill dogs and are being rewarded for the same.

The announcement has a mention stating people will be rewarded with 200 yuans for each kill.

The officials who are held in charge of the announcement denied the accusation.

They said that they were no encouraging killing of innocent dogs, with only the intention to regulate the pet keeping rules.

While the world is on an emergency and over a million people have been diagnosed with the mighty coronavirus, the same has no evidence of infected dogs or any other animal yet.

The information was provided by the World Health Organization after assessing it on multiple animals.

The orders that raged a controversy were given out in the Wanjiang community that is found in Dongguan, Guangzhou Province of southern China.

The neighborhood management office said the orders were made after several complaints on rule-breaking by dog owners had come.

The announcement also enlists multiple regulations on how a dog should be kept and walked.

The statement in the announcement read that a dog without any leash will be considered as a stray dog.

The notice had sparked outrage in people of the community for all the right reasons.

The announcement was then soon taken down.

A woman shared her opinion on the matter with the media. She said “it is an utter barbaric rule. Ordering for a kill is something a civilized society would never act on, even if it is for killing animals.”

“We teach our children that animals should be loved and the statement has a completely different aspect of the story to share which is not acceptable.”
