Children Of Firefighters Who Died Battling Fires Seen Sharing A Teddy Bear During Touching Vigil


Two young children of firefighters who tragically passed away while battling the flames during Australia’s bushfire crisis were seen sharing a teddy bear during a touching memorial service.

Taking to the Sydney Olympic Park on February 23 were thousands of mourners who came to the public vigil to pay their respects to 25 people from NSW who were killed by the deadly bushfires that had been ravaging the country since October.

Seen at the heartbreaking event were also Harvey, the young son of volunteer Geoffrey Keaton, and Charlotte, the daughter of Geoffrey’s fellow firefighter Andrew O’Dwyer.

Both firefighters have died in December after a burned tree collapsed onto their truck, and now their children have opened their hearts and shared a teddy bear with each other.

Speaking of the lost souls the people gathered to honor, NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said:

“Each one of those is a story of grief, of profound loss, and great sadness, of lives cut short, and of families being changed forever.

“To the families and loved ones of those that have been lost, and who are here today, we know your hearts have been broken over recent months and we are truly blessed you’ve made the effort to be here today.”

Among families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased were also firefighting crews from all around the state who gathered to pay their respects to their fallen comrades.
