Cher’s appearance comes amid her social media rift caused by the “inconsiderate” George Floyd comment she made days ago.

On Friday, the pop star sparked outrage after suggesting she could have saved George Floyd if she was present at the scene when he was getting arrested.

“Was talking With Mom & She Said ‘I Watched Trial Of Policeman Who Killed George Floyd ,& Cried’. I Said ‘Mom,I Know This Is Gonna Sound CRAZY,But.. I Kept Thinking …..Maybe If I’d Been There,…I Could’ve Helped,’” she wrote.

While she clearly meant well, critics were quick to blast her comment and accuse her of ‘white savior complex’ and white superiority for suggesting she could do what others couldn’t.

“This is significantly underplaying what witnesses who testified TRIED to do to stop his death. There have been MULTIPLE testimonies of everyone from a firefighter to an MMA fighter to a senior man who attempted to diffuse the situation. Singing songs doesn’t erase racism, Cher,” one person wrote.

“I love my Cher but oof. That was a little too white savior complex for me. I know she means well and probably doesn’t understand but..honey…no,” another one added.

While the singer initially doubled down on her comment saying she has and will help people who struggle, she later admitted she was wrong in a heartfelt apology.

“I Just got off phone With Friend Karen.Told her what Happened,& Realized,You Can Piss Ppl Off,& Hurt Them By Not Knowing Everything That’s‘NOT Appropriate’To Say.I know Ppl Apologize When They’re In a Jam,BUT TO GOD, IM TRULY SORRY If I Upset AnyOne In Blk Community.I Know My [heart emoji],” Cher said.

On Wednesday, she once again apologized for her previous tweet as she suggested she has been struggling with the fallout.

“These last days have been Hard,Soul Searching, Painful Ones. My Wording Was Wrong/Imprecise. When I’m Over-emotional I Should Wait,Walk Away, Then Twt.I Felt Sorrow,& Did Wish I Could have Helped George.Sometimes you can feel what you can’t Explain in a twt.Sorry is All I Have,” the singer tweeted.
