Whether you’re binge-watching on Netflix, feeling stressed out at the office, or maybe for just no reason at all, it’s always relaxing to grab a bag of chips and munch away contentedly until you end up surprising yourself when you reach down into an empty bag.

While there are countless brands out there, Cheetos still manages to make it to the forefront of snacks that people instinctively grab for. Of course, anyone who has ever eaten Cheetos knows that they’re eventually going to end up with a dusty cheese residue on your fingers. But people have happily braved this somewhat messy condition ever since Cheetos was first released in 1948.

Funnily enough, through all that time, no one really knows what to call that phenomenon of having cheesy fingers at the end of a Cheetos-munching session. Until now.

Cheetos itself has stepped in to give it an official name.

Consumers have sometimes referred to the cheesy fingers as “Cheetos fingers” for decades. It even has its own Instagram hashtag. But that’s a bit too wordy so Cheetos now has an official term for it: Cheetle.

According to a press release from Frito-Lay, “Cheetle” is defined as “that orange and red dust symbolic of true Cheetos fandom.”

If you want to use the word in a sentence, some examples could go like: “My hands have Cheetle on them,” or, “Did you stain my shirt with Cheetle?”

It certainly comes over as smoothly as sucking it off your fingers.

And to further celebrate this new term, Cheetos has come out with a brand new offering that’s covered in Cheetle. For the first time, Cheetos will be rolling out ready-to-eat popcorn “that has been infused with Cheetle.”

Brandi Ray, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America, said: “We’ve seen the way Cheetos lovers don their red- and orange-dusted fingers like a badge of honor, and we’re always looking for ways to help them step up their snacking game. The only way to truly take popcorn to the next level is to add the iconic Cheetle, the cheesy dust that will entice Cheetos fans to snack on this popcorn all year long.”

The new Cheetle-covered product will be coming in Cheddar and Flamin’ Hot flavors.

And in case you were wondering why Cheetos would even bother to come up with a term for those cheesy fingers, it’s actually a slick marketing move on Frito-Lay’s part. In a world that is just swimming with Cheetos clones, appending a branded term to something that consumers would get even if they ate a similar product from another brand is a great way to instill brand recognition.
