Ethann suffers from a very rare disease since birth called geleophysic dysplasia. He is one of the thirty people born in the world with the disease.

Geleophysic dysplasia is the skeletal condition that is characterized by dwarfism or short stature. In this, the person has evident abnormalities in feet and hands and a different facial appearance that is described as happy.

Geleophysic dysplasia can lead to heart problems because of complications in cardiac valves. These are the valves that control the blood flow through the heart. In most cases, the valves thicken, resulting in disturbance of blood flow.

This further increases blood pressure in the heart. In other cases, the artery from the heart to the lungs can even narrow down and a hole can exist between the upper chambers of the heart.

In order to get rid of the disease, a person suffering from it needs to get these complications removed. This is why Ethann has to undergo heart surgery.
