All dog owners must have thought about treating their dogs with yummy treats at restaurants and if you are one of them then here is good news for you. There are many popular restaurant chains offer foods for dogs, from special menus to little-known treats.
The most important thing is to know are these treats healthy for your dog?
Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist Deborah Linder, DVM, MS, DACVN said: “I’m a big fan of everything in moderation, as long as your pet is healthy and doesn’t have any dietary restrictions, giving them treats is totally fine.”
Here are some restaurants that have menu options for your dog.
1. Dairy Queen
Linder cautions that dairy doesn’t always agree with all pets. She says, “Many pets can’t digest dairy well in the form of milk.” Linder says this doesn’t mean your pup can’t enjoy a bit of ice cream on occasion, but she encourages you to “give your pets a little taste to see if they can handle it first.”
What about a few free treats? If you decide to go Starbucks with you furry friend then don’t ask to forget for a Puppuccino a little cup full of whipped cream for your dog because these treats are free.
3. Johnny Rockets
If you love outdoor seating then go for this restaurant as most standalone Johnny Rockets’ locations have outdoor seating available. Not only this but some restaurants have a secret dog menu with items like a doggy hamburger, “lickity split” ice cream, “pupcakes” and more.
4. Dunkin’ and Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons offers bite-sized doughnuts called “Timbits,” and your dog can have one for free the next time you visit the restaurant. Linder says, “Dogs can handle carbs and simple sugars, as long as they’re not diabetic and have an otherwise-balanced diet.”
The most famous restaurant gives your pooch a plain, unseasoned burger patty. Make sure you are not making any big change in your dog’s diet.
6. Shake Shack
The restaurant is a super dog-friendly as every standalone location has a dog-friendly menu. There are two options: “Bag O’ Bones,” which includes five ShackBurger dog biscuits made in NYC’s Bocce’s Bakery and “The Pooch-ini,” which includes ShackBurger dog biscuits and vanilla custard.
