Even after he has subsided to a part-time role with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Cena has continued supporting charities both through his actions and financial support. A subtle clue seems to suggest that he was the donor who donated $40,000 to the late Shad Gaspard.

Gaspard has recently lost his life when a rip current suddenly struck him and his 10-year-old son during a family vacation to Venice Beach, California. Witnesses told reporters that Gaspard tried his absolute best to save his son, who was rescued by lifeguards 25~30 yards away from the beach.

However, Gaspard had drifted almost 100 yards away from the beach after the lifeguard returned after saving his son. Los Angeles County officials said that they identified Gaspard’s body almost a mile away from where he was last witnessed.

Gaspard is most widely known by his WWE tenure, where he formed a popular tag team with JTG known as Cryme Tyme. As a group that parodied the standard street thugs, they were a fan-pleasing duo despite never winning a tag team title.

During their time in the WWE, Cryme Tyme worked together with Cena in a stable known as CTC, which stood for Cryme Tyme Cenation. Cena and his fans are referred to as Cenation within the vernaculars of the WWE fandom.

Their time together as CTC is why many believe Cena was the man who donated $40,000 to support the remaining Gaspard family after this sudden and tragic event. The anonymous donor called himself / herself “CTC RIP”.

The picture that Cena uploaded on his Instagram account to commemorate his former stable member was an image of CTC destroying the limousine of John Bradshaw Layfield, whose in-ring persona was that of a rich and arrogant Texan.

Gaspard’s 35 year old widow Sillana said in her Instagram post that Gaspard was like a real life superhero who brought happiness to many people both as an in-ring performer and as a human being.

Our thoughts are with the family, and we thank Cena or whoever the secret donor is for taking care of the family after an unexpected accident. Rest in Peace.
