Celeste Barber Raised Over $33 Million For Australian Bushfires Relief


Celeste Barber has managed to do the impossible by uniting more than 1.

2 million people in donating towards the Australian bushfires relief.

As of this writing, the 37-year-old comedian has raised a whopping $33 million via Facebook fundraiser dubbed the ‘Fundraiser for The Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund by Celeste Barber.’

“Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I’m raising money for The Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you for your support,” the fundraiser’s about me page reads.

As Business Insider Australia claimed, Barber’s page represents the largest global fundraiser on Facebook.

“This is incredible. Power to the people,” the comedian wrote.

Previously, the 37-year-old also addressed billionaires on Twitter and encouraged them to make a donation of their own.

“Hey billionaires, Notre Dame burning down sucked. I get it. Times that by a trillion and that’s what’s happening in Australia,” she tweeted. “Feel free to flick us a quick couple of million. You make it seem pretty easy.”

Meanwhile, dozens of celebrities and influential figures have pledged sizeable donations towards the bushfire crisis relief.

A mining mogul and billionaire Andrew Forrest has pledged a whopping $70 million towards the recovery and prevention of similar incidents in the future.

As the businessman explained, $50 million of the donation will go towards plans and strategies that will help Australia “avoid a tragedy striking to this extent ever again.point 255 |

” Another $20 million will be directed at emaciated communities and the residents most affected by the crisis, whereas $10 million will contribute to providing immediate relief with the help of the Salvation Army and the Australian Red Cross.point 206 | 1

“With incredible courage and determination, Australians have united to help those devastated by these bushfires. We recognize that we don’t have all the answers, but we want to understand what communities need and do our bit to help them,” Andrew Forrest told the reporters.

“We are putting $50 million on the table to create resilience in order to encourage other companies and philanthropists from Australia and around the world to build a resilient Australia so we might avoid a tragedy striking to this extent ever again.”

Dozens of celebrities and prominent figures have also joined the cause and made remarkable contributions towards firefighters tackling Australia’s worst-ever bushfire crisis.

Some of the well-known figures that made, or pledged, massive donations include James Packer, Chris Hemsworth, Kylie Jenner, Justin Hemmes, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, band Metallica, Russell Crowe, Dacre Montgomery, Rebel Wilson, Elton John, and Pink.
