For employees of a nightclub in Sheffield City, that involved watching CCTV footage of chairs hurtling about on their own hours after the bar had closed for the night.

Dan Carey, general manager of Bar and Beyond, went to the club because of a security alarm that went off at 7 am on Sunday, October 13th.

When he arrived, he saw four chairs scattered about as if they were flung aside.

Thinking that pranksters or some other intruder may have thrown the furniture into disarray, the 37-year-old decided to check out the club’s CCTV footage and was shocked at what he discovered.

Dan, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, said: “There’s been the odd rumor of weird things happening in the dark hours here, but we’ve never really taken them seriously.

“I always thought the ‘going beyond’ part of our name was the club experience after a few drinks in our bar area, but perhaps it means going over to the afterlife.

“I found the chairs plus a drinks menu on the floor. I thought it was odd and checked the CCTV to see if it had indeed been an intruder.

“I wasn’t quite prepared for what I saw on the video.”

As for Dan, he has always thought that there were unusual things happening in the club after hours but he himself had never seen anything out of the ordinary until he watched the CCTV footage.

He added: “We’re well known for having a wide range of spirits on offer here, I just didn’t realize it included the spooky kind as well.

“I love this kind of thing, I’ll buy him or her a drink if it decides to return. I’m not afraid of no ghost.”
