A Catholic School faces serious allegations about the incident under which a student passed away in 1980 after a former pupil came forward with disturbing revelations.
The death of Aldo Moroni is haunting St. Columba’s College in Scotland after authorities were told that a 7-year-old pupil had been beaten to death by a former staff.
The former student who made the shocking revelations claimed that Brother Germanus had attacked Aldo because the boy for being in the toilet for too long.
According to Daily Mail, the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry heard about the cruel treatment at the school from Edward, a former student.
Edward, 64, informed authorities that David McKell, also called Brother Germanus, had sexually abused him numerous times in the 1960s. He was 7 or 8 years old when McKell targeted him on about ‘two dozen’ occasions.
In 2014, he was surprised when his nephew, also a former student, informed him that Aldo had been killed.
He said “Aldo Moroni, a little boy, was getting a vicious beating on the landing outside the toilet for supposedly being in the toilet too long.
“(My nephew said) there was screaming and holy murder going on; it got worse, and the next thing we (his nephew and his classmates) knew, there’s an ambulance there, and the next thing we knew we are at a funeral in Dunoon – Aldo was dead.”
Edward also said at the hearing that he was ‘dumbfounded’ by the news especially when his nephew said that the children were told that Aldo’s death was caused by a heart attack.
The former student also admitted that he felt guilty of ‘cowardice’ for not saying anything about McKell and also the sexual abuse he experienced during his stay at the school.
“I thought about my cowardice – could I have stopped that boy being killed?” he expressed.
As an adult, Edward reached to the Marist Brothers to inform them about the sexual abuse. He said the order urged him not to tell the police even though he was told by one brother named Ronnie McEwan that another boy had also been abused by McKell.
McEwan allegedly said “Do not phone the police” and assured Edward that order would do it. But he discovered that the authorities had never been phoned and McKell died in 1998.
