The Catholic Church has raised an investigation after they found out that two missionary nuns became pregnant while they were working in Africa.
Both the women belonged to different religions, and it’s unlikely for nuns to become pregnant after taking their vows of chastity. One of them found out about her pregnancy after complaining about stomach pain, and the other found out about it after several weeks of being pregnant.
The profession of both the nuns is on the stake as getting pregnant at this stage is known as one of the biggest scandals in their profession.
The first nun, who is 34 years old, found out about her pregnancy when she went to the hospital to get her checkup done for stomach ache.
Till now, her religious order has not been identified, but according to the reports, she belongs from the convent in Sicily’s Nebrodi Mountains.
After discovering her pregnancy, she has moved to Palermo to prepare for the birth of her child. The nun now has to focus on her child and leave her monastic life altogether.
The second nun discovered about her pregnancy after several weeks of being pregnant. The nun was a senior monastic and had been taking care of the older adults in Ragusa.
The nun has returned to her home country, Madagascar, but the discovery of two nuns being pregnant has caused a big scandal amongst the church hierarchy.
It is clear that both of them had some sexual encounters to reach this state, and now they have returned to their home country, leaving their monastic life.
Even if the nuns breached the rules of the church, the welfare of their kids is the topmost priority.
