A town of Samsun in northern Turkey has a better idea to cope up with this situation.

The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality dedicated an area of land to build a cat shelter after seeing the increase in the number of stray cats. This cat shelter is not an ordinary one as it lies within a 10,000km [6214 miles] area of forest, and it is only for cats.

It took two years to complete the area and the tiny town is made up of cat bungalows, bridges, and walking tracks. “It’s like a five-star hotel for cats,” says Hüseyin Aydin, the vet and manager of the shelter. “Everything that is required for their health and life is provided here.”

There is a plan to expand the area even further. The town of cat is managed under the care of the vet and team who takes care of any health concerns and makes sure each and every cat resident is spayed or neutered.

Turkey has a long history with cats as it is not Samsun which is known as stray cats population. In Islam, the predominant religion of Turkey, cats are highly taken care by the Prophet Muhammed who once even cut off the sleeve of his robe because he did not want to disturb the sleeping cat.
