The staff at Battersea decided to throw Monique an adoption bash on her birthday that falls on Valentine’s Day, hoping guests would offer her a home.

But, not even a single person turned up to adopt her.

Battersea’s Cattery Team Leader, Chrissie Grindrod, described Monique as a gentle soul who loves human company.

She said it’s a shame that she is being overlooked despite being so young and lovable.

Battersea’s Cattery Team Leader, Chrissie Grindrod, said: “Monique is a gentle soul who thrives with human company, whether that be playing with her favourite toys together or curling up side by side on the sofa.”

She said it is still not too late to give Monique her dream gift of a lovely new home.

Monique has been living at Battersea in London, UK, for 115 days after being rescued.

Monique is living with a Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+) and this is the reason she is being overlooked by people.

The owner will need to ‘cat proof’ their garden for Monique so she can explore the outdoors and to prevent her from spreading the virus to other cats.

Despite living with a Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), Monique is expected to live a long and happy life.

Chrissie hopes to encourage people to adopt Britain’s loneliest cat by sharing her story.

Chrissie said: “We would encourage any potential owners to get in touch regardless of what they do or don’t know already know about FIV, and whether or not their garden is currently cat proof.”

“Our team is always on hand to answer any questions and offer advice.”

She said Monique is an amazing cat and deserves loving owners. The owners will have to take extra care of her but she is worth it.
