Care home workers have decided to sleep in the tents in order to protect the residents from the risk of catching the deadly virus.
A dozen of staff from Pilgrim Wood Home Care located nearby Guildford in Surrey will be sleeping outside at night for the next four weeks in order to remain isolated from the community.
This step is taken in order to stop their residents that include many vulnerable and senior patients from getting coronavirus.
While the coronavirus outbreak in the UK is reported to have passed the peak session, the risk of this crisis continues to persist in the home cares that have witnessed thousands of deaths in the past couple of weeks.
Kessel Lakhani, who owns the Pilgrim Wood said that the staff is making a great personal sacrifice to keep the seniors safe. He further added that he is overwhelmed by how positive and supportive the staff had been from the beginning.
Some staff had been away from their families for weeks and the owner extended his humble gratitude towards them.
The tents for the staff are donated by the families of the residents and they have set them up along with air mattresses and camp beds to make sure they are comfortable. The staff will be going back to their home only to freshen up and eat.
Kessel further added that the reaction from the families of these residents has been truly wonderful. They have been calling and emailing to show their appreciation to the home care and its staff.
These touching messages from the families meant a lot to the staff. So far, there have been no cases in this family-run home care and the staff is dedicatedly trying to keep things safe for the elderly.
Sharon Mitchell, the manager had an idea of staff moving in order to curb the spread of this deadly virus. With everyone getting more worried about the deadly implications of the virus, the home care is taking all the safety measures it can to keep the residents safe.
