Cardi B has surprised her fans as she announced the launch of her own doll that looks exactly like her.
Taking social media to share the good news, the 28-year-old rapper revealed she designed and created a doll that looks like her so that her 2-year-old daughter, Kulture, will have a toy that looks like her mum.
“BARDI GANG!! I’m dropping my own doll TODAY! Inspired by me. Created by me. Designed by me. Thank you @officialrealwomenare. This means sooo much,” Cardi B wrote before calling on people to reserve the doll before it’s too late.
Speaking of the beginning of her line of dolls, the hip-hop star admitted she felt enthusiastic about the idea of creating her own toy because she never saw one that looks like her.
“Somebody came with this idea to me and I’m like, ‘That is great because I would love my daughter to play with a doll that looks like me.’ I mean, all these other dolls look like me, I might as well make one for myself,” the singer said in an interview with Today.
“Growing up, I ain’t never seen a doll that looks like me, you know what I’m saying? I ain’t never seen a doll that really represents me.”
She added: “You go to the doll aisles when you’re my age, it’s either like there’s a real white one, there’s a real dark one, and there’s like barely one that’s in the middle. None of them have my style, none of them have my flavor. I want a doll that represents me.”
The unique doll was designed and created by Cardi B in partnership with Real Women Are, a doll brand owned and led by women from minorities.
“Today, more than ever, it’s important to me to give my daughter inspiration and bada— women to look up to. Working with Real Women Are is a chance for me to provide my daughter and other little girls something that looks like them to play with to inspire them,” Cardi B expressed.
