“There’s no choice. You have to leave here, this country because we’re going to die here,” one of the migrants, 25-year-old Oscar Zaldivar, said about his decision to leave Honduras.

“We are going in search of a better future, a job so we can send a few cents back home. We are trusting in God to open our path, Biden is supposed to give work opportunities to those who are there,” Jessenia Ramírez, a migrant who left behind her children and husband in hopes of providing for them once in the States, said.

While it is not clear what the migrants’ destination may be, it is believed that they are marching towards the US border in hopes of making their way into the States after Biden promised to ease off immigration policies put into effect by Trump.

With the pandemic and travel restrictions in process, however, the US Customs and Border Protection has already warned the migrants to turn back as they wouldn’t be allowed to cross the border.

“Do not waste your time and money, and do not risk your safety and health. Migrant caravan groups will not be allowed to make their way north in violation of the sovereignty, standing public health orders, and immigration laws of the respective nations throughout the region,” Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan said.

Meanwhile, officials from countries standing between the US and the caravan have vowed to stop the migrants before they reach the States.

Mexico has also dispatched the National Guard to the city of Ciudad Hidalgo in an attempt to stop the caravan from making their way from Guatemala to Mexico and eventually the US.
