A car was caught on camera ramming into a group of Black Lives Matter protesters who were spread across the road as they were cycling down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City.
The incident occurred near Madison Square Park on Saturday night when dozens of BLM protestors took to the Fifth Avenue with their bikes.
At around 7:15 pm, a black SUV had suddenly appeared from behind the cyclists before charging straight at the crowd and knocking several protesters to the ground in the process.
“It’s not to say that wealthy people, privileged people haven’t been compassionate,” one of the protesters who appeared to be shooting a video explaining the reasons behind their Manhattan protest said moments before the vehicle drove past him and rammed into the cyclists.
After plowing into the protesters, the driver of the SUV stopped for a brief moment before speeding off and leaving the victims behind.
Meanwhile, fellow demonstrators approached the cyclists lying on the ground in an attempt to comfort them and tend to their injuries.
While it is believed that several ambulances were dispatched to the scene, the New York Daily News confirmed that two protesters were taken to the hospital following the incident.
According to the reports, the protesters rammed by the SUV suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
Following the Fifth Avenue showdown, the police have confirmed they are on the hunt for the SUV driver who plowed into the group of protesters. As of this writing, no arrests have been made.
