World War Veteran Captain Tom Moore Finished His 100 Laps And Raised Over $21 Million For Coronavirus Frontliners


World War II veteran, Captain Tom Moore, has finished his 100 laps around his home and raised a total of more than $21 million for the health system.

England-based Captain Moore has become an inspiration for people around the world after vowing to finish 100 laps around his garden in order to pay a tribute to the NHS and the frontliners of the battle against the pandemic.

While the war veteran’s original goal was to raise just over $1,000 by making laps around his garden, he has, as of this writing, already raised over $21 million (£17 million) on JustGiving.

After completing his 100th lap just days before turning 100, Moore told BBC News that we all have “to remember that we will get through it in the end.”

“This is for everyone for who is finding the current circumstances difficult, and it is difficult. Everyone who is staying indoors, you’re all being very very good,” the veteran told BBC.

“You’ve all got to remember that we will get through it in the end. It will all be right. It might take time, but it will all be OK. The sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away.”

After raising millions, Moore has been praised for his efforts by countless healthcare workers, officials, and people from around the world. Some are also calling for the captain to be honored by being knighted.

Despite all the attention, Moore remains humble and thankful to people who have contributed to the common cause. He has also vowed to continue walking for as long as donations keep rising.
