A 19-year-old has been indicted on kidnapping and federal hate crime charges after he allegedly tried to dismember and kill victims he met online.
Chance Seneca from Louisiana now faces life in prison after he lured three men to his home.
According to reports, he managed to connect to his victims through hookup app Grindr.
In June last year, Seneca lured Holden White, 18, to a house in Lafayette Parish where he strangled, beat, and stabbed the victim.
White fortunately survived and spent days in a coma. After weeks of being admitted to the hospital, he still could not have full use of his hands.
The Justice Department alleged that the attacker “intended to dismember and keep parts of White’s body as trophies, mementos and food.”
Police first said that the evidence did not support a hate crime charge. However, the Justice Department insisted that Seneca targeted White because of his gay.
In a January interview with The Acadiana Advocate, White said that he decided to meet up with Seneca after they chatted on Grindr for many weeks.
He said that the attacker picked him up and drove him to a relative’s home.
Seneca then started choking him that his blood vessels started to rupture all over his face. The next thing he remember, he woke up in a bathtub with Seneca trying to slice his wrists.
“The water is running, and it’s cold,” he recalled.
Police said that Seneca called shortly and reported that he had killed a man. Officers rushed to the residence and found White with deep cuts to his wrists. He also suffered blunt force trauma to his head and multiple stab wounds.
“I’m a survivor,” White added. The attack left him with reduced function in his left hand but he said that he is focused on moving on.
