The internet seems to have a hard time handling the surprise after former president Bush and Ellen DeGeneres sat on adjacent seats during a Cowboys game in Dallas.
As reported by the USA Today, the two sat in a private enclosure, seemingly owned by Jerry Jones, the owner of Cowboys. They were not alone in the enclosure; Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi and Bush’s wife Laura were also present at the occasion.
The scene was broadcasted on Fox during the live streaming of the game.
The pair was seen chatting and laughing like old friends as they enjoyed the ongoing Cowboys versus Green Bay Packers game.
Just after they went on air on Fox, a lot of people flooded the internet with their views about the unlikely happening, and this included a mix of a number of feelings.
Clinton Yates, a commentator with ESPN, took to Twitter to say: “Ellen sitting next to Dubya definitely qualified as a Sunday shocker.”
Another short but meaningful tweet read: “Name a more weird couple.”
One overly excited person even said: “George W. Bush cracking jokes with Ellen at the #GBvsDAL game is the best thing to happen this year.”
However, the internet, being the internet, had people who were not very happy with Bush and Ellen sitting next to one another.
“I don’t care how nice of a guy George W Bush is,” tweeted journalist Aaron Rupar.
“He was one of our worst presidents and left our country and world in bad shape. The mess he helped create we’re still trying to dig out of. This is a bad look for @TheEllenShow.”
Parker Molloy, writer and activist, branded Ellen’s choice of being in the company of Bush as a “bold” one.
Parker Tweeted: “Bold choice for @TheEllenShow to hang out with GWB 2 days before SCOTUS (which now includes his former staff secretary Kavanaugh) will hear a case about whether it will be legal to discriminate against LGBTQ people in employment.”
Molloy was hinting about the case that is about to come up at the supreme court on coming Tuesday. It deals with the question of firing people depending on their sexual preferences and gender choice.
The present US government has put up the case saying that the senators in the past did not include LGBTQ people in the law that banned discrimination on the basis of ‘race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.’
After getting the right to marry someone of the same sex, the LGBTQ community is now campaigning to make sure gay people stay covered by the discrimination ban.
