Brother Saved Sister’s Baby from Foster Care, 6 Months Later, He Appeared On American Idol

Everybody has got past demons, and it is the weight one has to carry all throughout their lives.

Most of us don’t like to show and are happy with things kept hidden.

For people, Marcio Donaldson, 28, is a young man with a passion for singing. Last year, Marcio entered American Idol but was only able to move past the first round.

This season, he returned again but with a whole new personality. During one episode, it was revealed that Marcio was involved in some serious things previous year which has changed his life.

Since the day he was born, his life was filled with hardships. The financial condition of his family was poor, and the neighborhood he grew up in was filled with criminals. Shootings and gang fights was an everyday routine that he witnessed.

His mother was a single mother, and he and her sister lived in an apartment filled with cockroaches. His mother struggled to provide Marcio and his sister a normal upbringing.

It was inevitable that things were not going their way and hence, had to change. Marcio and his sister ended up in a foster home. This was the time when Marcio turned to music to cope with his pain.

Music was something that made him flew far away from crime and violence. Years passed, he grew up to be an aspiring singer and last year, he auditioned for American Idol and got selected. He reached the ‘Hollywood Round’ but was eventually shown the exit after his group performance.

During that time, he gets to know that his sister was pregnant. Things were not good for his sister. She was battling drug issues, and Marcio knew that he would have to step in when the authorities come to inspect things.

Marcio said that when the authorities came, they told him that he only had 10 minutes to decide the fate of the newborn he will go into the system.

Marcio could not let the baby go. He knew that if he left his nephew with the authorities, he would end up being like him. Hence, at 28, Marcio became a single father.

He had no idea what he was going to do next, but he knew that he is not going to leave his nephew to live a life that he and his sister lived.

Last week, it was a surprise for the American Idol fans when he returned to the show. This time, he was not singing for himself, but for his nephew who was his son now.

When Marcio started to sing, it was pure magic; no one was able to hold back their tears, it was something pure and honest.

After his performance, it was first time in a long time he heard something good. The judges handed him over the ‘golden ticket’ to the show.

He burst into tears, and so did everyone else. He said that it was his ticket to a happy life. There are only few who can overcome things like this.

It is not easy, but if you have willpower and the passion to achieve something, there is no force in this world that can stop you.
