Robin Pownall gave birth to her twins with much excitement and enthusiasm. She is already a mother to a child.
It was 14th October 2018 that she brought Santino and Giovanni to this world. The amazing part is that both the kids were born prematurely at 33 weeks yet had a perfect biological condition.
Soon after their birth that the family unleashed the fact that both the kids suffered from a rare disease called Chronic Granulomatous. They had a fragile immunity that can’t even make them through the slightest ailment.
Bone marrow transplant was the only cure which required a matching bone marrow. Unfortunately, neither of the parents had a matching bone marrow. The only sample that matched was of 4 years old Micheal who was the elder brother of the twins.
Everyone was feeling hesitant to decide over Micheal as he was too young. The parents approached him in quite a straight manner and explained that a sharp needle would be entering from his back and that if he felt scared, there is no need to go through the process at all.
Though as a parent we felt that he was too young to comprehend any part of it but in reality Micheal did and he was ready for everything. Somehow he sensed the urgency and responded accordingly which made the parents proud.
The day, Micheal made his way to the hospital to get his bone marrow extracted. He hardly looked stressed. On the contrary, he was cheerful and held his spirit high. It seemed that he was excited to be a part of it all.
He was given a Giggle juice which he drank and fell asleep until he woke to normal. He denied having any pains for the wounds on his back. He was excited to help his brothers.
GoFundMe was informed by their aunt that everything went good. Giovanni received the cells around 2.30 pm whereas Santino got the same around 5.30 pm and the donor brother was perfectly fine.
The fresh bone marrows will surely strengthen the immunity systems of the twin brothers and both are now in good health waiting for the wounds to get healed.
At present, Giovanni and Santino do not have any mark of the disease that they were born with the credit of their cure completely goes to their little brother Micheal.
