Finding the absolute perfect wedding dress is a very nerve-wracking experience.
You are picking out the dress you will wear on one of the most important events of your life — your wedding day! So it always helps to bring someone along when dress shopping that will be patient, supportive and most importantly honest when you need them to be. But what if the person you brought along wasn’t so supportive and was being cruel to you the whole time? In the video below we will one mother who goes way too far..
From the hit hidden camera TV show What Would You Do?, we see a daughter trying out dresses for her big day and a mother who refuses to be helpful and instead insults her for not losing weight before the wedding. When the daughter finds the perfect dress, the mother quickly makes sure she throws in an incredibly rude insult.

Eventually the conversation between the mother and daughter heats up and gets louder and louder until the entire store can hear.point 108 | It’s very apparent that the mother is incredibly opinionated about her daughter’s wedding, enough so that she’s willing to degrade her publicly.point 249 |
The mother even goes as far as to say “You look fat in this dress!” and loud enough that the entire store overhears her incredibly rude comment.point 130 | I cannot possibly imagine being the daughter in this scenario.point 183 | I would just go crazy!point 201 | 1
It’s worth noting that before this segment, they had a similar situation where the bride-to-be was actually too skinny for the mother and the mother berated her daughter for not putting on enough weight. Which do you think received a faster response? One where the bride-to-be was considered too skinny or too fat?
What I didn’t expect from this segment was that it actually did a fantastic job illustrating body image and how society reacts in a certain way when a victim is skinny or fat. Thankfully in the clip below one incredible woman interrupts the mother and is sure to give her a piece of her mind!

In typical What Would You Do? fashion, the mother and daughter are actually actors and no one else is aware that it’s actually an experiment. The daughter is actually played by actress Jen Penton who has a pretty notable acting reel herself!
