A bride was fined for trespassing, but not theft after a gardener accused her of entering her garden and stealing $300 worth of roses for her wedding reception.

The woman who was left with an empty garden after the unusual theft shared her story on a wedding shaming group where she revealed that she had only learned of what had happened after a person told her she saw her neighbor post suspicious pictures of her wedding on Facebook.

“I walked out into my yard on a Friday morning to find every single rose in my garden cut and my potted impatiens and petunias gone, pots and all,” the devastated gardener wrote.

“Naturally, I was devastated. My roses were butchered. Including my extremely rare Amelia Earhart hybrid tea that took me three years to track down.

“I filed a police report but there was little they could do. All I could do was prune them back and try to coax them into blooming again.”

Weeks later, however, the thief’s neighbor told her she saw her neighbor using roses just like the ones that were stolen from her backyard for her wedding reception.

“Apparently her neighbor had got married the weekend my garden was looted. The photos were posted on social media,” the gardener said.

“The tip-off was the petunias and impatiens in my very distinctive, white painted flower pots being used as centerpieces.”

After further inspecting the pictures, the gardener discovered that the bride and her bridesmaids had been carrying bouquets made of white, pink, and yellow hybrid tea roses.

“I am the only person in the region that grows them,” she added.

“This bride apparently passed my house and saw my bloomed up the garden and went out in the cover of darkness a couple of days before the wedding and cut all of my roses and took pots to use for her wedding.”

After reporting the incident to the police, the thief was fined merely $50 for trespassing but faced no penalties for the theft of the expensive flowers.

“She got a $50 fine. A FINE. That rose cost $300 and had to be shipped from across the country. She butchered the plant so badly, it STILL hasn’t fully recovered,” the victim explained.

“The only words she ever spoke to me were ‘They’re just flowers. I needed flowers for my wedding and you have a whole yard full.’ Yeah, b****. The expensive and rare roses that I’ve spent years cultivating.”

“I frequently get requests for a few blooms. I’ve had more than one preteen boy show up at my door with a $1 asking if he could buy a rose,” she added, saying she would gladly help out if only the bride asked her for permission first.
