A bride pleaded guilty with protesters to leave her wedding after they gatecrashed the venue while carrying signs ‘People over profit senator sellout’ and ‘Sinema betrays Democrats’.
Demonstrators stood outside the entrance to the venue where Democratic senator Krysten Sinema was officiating.
“Thanks for ruining my wedding. I really appreciate it,” the bride can be heard saying.
“’It’s just my wedding. I really wish I could enjoy my wedding without you ruining it,” the bride said, to which a demonstrator replied: “You know what she’s (Sinema) ruining? Our lives!”
Sinema officiated the wedding as she is friends with both the groom and bride.
But protesters spared no one, even the bride’s mother who pleaded with them to leave the venue and honor the special occasion.
“It’s my daughter’s wedding. Just for an hour — just let her get married, please. This person (Sinema) is not my daughter,” she said in tears.
Demonstrators then stood outside quietly, but one protester later shouted at Sinema during the ceremony.
The senator was later captured in a multicolored dress and sunglasses dancing next to a unicorn, ignoring furious demonstrators outside the venue.
Hannah Hurley, the spokeswoman for the senator, said that Sinema did not interact with or support the guests who were captured entering the venue dressed in Native American costumes.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Hurley said: “While the Senator knows the bride and groom, she does not know and did not interact with the wedding guests who wore disrespectful and rac*st costumes to the ceremony, and she strongly condemns such behavior.”
This is the fourth time Sinema has been targeted by protesters. Earlier this month, she was targeted by a group of demonstrators at Reagan National Airport.
