Interracial relationships by their very nature can be quite challenging. It’s not the biological or genetic differences that are the issue but the underlying cultural differences that can make or break a relationship.

If the art of compromise is important for any relationship to work, it’s all the more so for interracial ones and can play quite a prominent role in the relationship.point 143 | The couple has to deal not just with distinct upbringings from different households but possibly conflicting stances depending on one or the other’s cultural background.point 294 |

These cultural quirks don’t readily disappear even if one or the other is already several generations removed from their original homeland.point 125 | 1

This is why if the couple manages to make it all the way to the altar, it’s a cause of celebration not only for the triumph of love but also a celebration of accepting more of what’s common to each other rather than focusing on their differences. The following video by AVP Studios Canada shows this aspect quite beautifully.

Frank is French-Canadian while his bride Simran is Indian. During their wedding, Frank managed to bring Simran to joyful tears after he sings to her “Tum Hi Ho” in her native tongue and managed to win her all over again in the process (not that he needed to).

It started out innocently enough with Frank tapping a few tunes on the electric keyboard. Then he launches into the song and blows Simran away. The fact that he sang it smoothly and flawlessly made it obvious that he practiced long and hard for this (six weeks, in fact).

The video captured the heart of the Internet and started to go viral.

Simran later said in an interview: “My heart sank when I first heard him sing in Hindi. It was a feeling I had never felt before. The only thing I was thinking was, ‘How did he manage to do this?’ I was the only one at the reception who knows how hard he truly works.”

The newlyweds then went on YouTube to thank everyone who admired Frank’s wedding performance. In addition, they encouraged everyone to openly express their love to their special someone via challenge #ShowYourLove. Frank definitely led the way and it was as touching as it was beautiful to behold.
