A bride was rushed to the emergency room after she dislocated her knee during her first dance with her husband.
Julia Benn and Paul Richter were dancing to Dave Matthews Band’s Stay on July 3 when he dipped her and her knee gave out underneath the sparkling white dress.
The bride had to be stretchered to the hospital where she was given pain medication.
The shocking moment was captured on video by the groom’s sister Liz.
In an interview with Fox News, Julie joked: “We didn’t have planned choreography. Maybe we should have.”
“Immediately, I knew what was going on. I was in this dip and said to Paul, ‘I just dislocated my knee.’ He went right into like, caretaker mode and we found this chair and everybody swooped in to help.
“We had doctors that were guests, nurses that were guests. I was kind of in shock and my knee was just being held in place.”
The couple told the guests to stay and enjoy the day as they gave them updates from the hospital.
“We got back just in time for the last song. I was on a lot of different meds… we got discharged at 10.30pm. Then we left,” she added.
Julia’s mother stayed with the couple at the hospital as the groom was nervous about how many pain medications his wife had been given.
“We’re making light of it now,” Julie said.
One person commented: “In sickness and in health kicked in sooner than most marriages – hope she still enjoyed their day.”
Another wrote: “Poor thing. I know exactly how serious an accident that can be. Bet she was wearing high heels that didnt help. I hope she recovers and doesnt suffer for the rest of her life like I have.”
