In the heartwarming video below, a young woman is seen crying on her wedding day as a letter from his late father is read aloud. The couple is moved upon hearing the words of the bride’s father, Todd Excell, which are sprinkled with wisdom, kindness, and humor.
Excell lost his life due to cancer in 2001 when Emily, his daughter, was just 8 years old. Emily, from Liverpool, New York, had to grow up without her loving father.
Excell knew he would not be alive to celebrate the big day of his daughter so he made perfect arrangement to be there for her when she ties the knot. He wrote a letter to her which was to be read out on her wedding day.
Excell dictated what he wanted to say, typed his words and placed them inside a freezer — ready for Emily’s big day.
Emily married Shakeal Darbey on October 4, 2016, and, during the wedding, her father’s letter was read out by her uncle and godfather, Peter.
Watch the heartwarming incident in the video below.
Emily was moved to tears as soon as she heard her father speak. The loving father wrote: ‘To my dearest daughter, Emily.’
‘You are my heart and soul and always will be.’
He added: ‘I love you, Emily. I know I would love your new husband. To your new husband, I will be walking with you, too.’
But, just when her husband thought he was off the hook, Emily’s father had also prepared a special message for him.
He wrote: ‘To the new husband.’
‘I will not be able to intimidate you or ask you a million questions before you date my daughter, tell you I have a gun under my bed, or ask you why you are interested in dating my daughter, take your licence plate down and the type of car you drive.’
‘But what I can do — is haunt you.’
This made everyone present there laugh too hard.
